Grimes - Genesis

Canada's own Grimes is someone to watch in 2012.  Born and raised in Vancouver and now based out of Montreal, Claire Boucher creates well-crafted, sonically beautiful music. "Genesis," the second track to appear on her upcoming LP, Visions, (due out February 21st) takes you to atmospheric heights layered in bouncy synth and piano loop elements.  "Oblivion" (released last October) is another cut from the album.

Tourist. - Placid Acid

Wow. This amazing chilled out tune comes from Tourist., a Brighton producer who used to remix under the name of Little Loud. "Placid Acid" will be included on his Placid Acid EP due out March 14th.

Sound Remedy - Reach For The Stars

It's nice to have some free time on my hands to blog. It seems I'm on a blog overload lately or I may just be finding some awesome tracks that need to be posted. Anyways, I've really been digging "Reaching For The Stars" by Sound Remedy as of late. I really like the progressive house filtering in throughout the background. They make some pretty good bangers including a remix of Nero's "Crush On You" (below).

Tennis - My Better Self

I love Tennis - both the sport and the Denver, Colorado based minimalistic pop trio. I'm so excited to hear that they are releasing their sophomore LP, Young & Old, on February 14th. What a perfect Valentine's Day treat. "My Better Self," featured on Young & Old, is a saccharine sweet pop melody that will leave you humming its infectious melody throughout the day.

Labyrinth Ear - Humble Bones

London synth-pop duo Labyrinth Ear are set to release a new EP, Apparitions, on February 7th. Apparitions features "Humble Bones," a mysterious, hypnotic dreamy pop song encased in industrial drum and synth beats. A must listen, check it out below.

Electric Guest - This Head I Hold

This song is catchy - REALLY catchy. So catchy you'll be singing along to this soulful, upbeat, bouncy handclap-filled ditty in no time. "This Head I Hold" comes from Electric Guest, Los Angeles duo Asa Taccone (his brother is Lonely Island's Jorma Taccone) and Matthew Compton. Their debut album, Mondo, is due out April 24th on Downtown Records and is produced by Danger Mouse.

"American Daydream" is another stellar track from Electric Guest (included below).

St. Lucia

St. Lucia is an indie electronic dream. New York based but a South African native, St. Lucia is described as "what happens when the long and bleak winters of New York recede and summer emerges; giving birth to memories of childhood holidays, faded photos of exotic places and the dream of recapturing this" (according to his Facebook page). This is dream pop in its finest form. I cannot get enough of his remix of PAPA's "I Am The Lion King." The song encapsulates a nostalgic feeling that only past summers have left behind. Not only is this a fantastic remix but original St. Lucia is beyond amazing. Last year saw the release of the All Eyes On You" 7" on HeavyRoc, including the stand-out titular track "All Eyes on You" and "The Old House is Gone" (both included below). So sit back, relax and get lost in nostalgic daydreams…

St. Lucia will be also joining the Knocks and Savoir Adore on the Neon Gold Record tour this March.

Also included below is another amazing track "We Got It Wrong."

Young Heel - Love Me Down

I have a penchant for sexy songs and this is one sexy song. Young Heel hails from Brooklyn, New York and makes "experimental madrugada pop music," according to their Band Camp page. They reworked and put their own modern spin on "Love Me Down," a classic R & B song from Ready For The World (released in 1986). "Love You Down" goes right up there with The Weeknd's "The Morning" on the sexiness scale. Strangely enough, it is morning where I live. In that case, I will post "The Morning" to add a little spice to the morning. Here's to Thursday morning sexiness!

The song is also free to download. Check it out!

Alesso - Nillionaire

This is the last post before I sleep - I can't help it, there's just too much good music to blog about. Alesso is a young electro-progressive producer-DJ hailing from Sweden who remixed the hell out of Swedish House Mafia's "Save the World" last year. (Check it out below!) Lately I have been hooked on the original "Nillionaire" (also released last year). Enjoy!

SBTRKT - Atomic Peace

SBTRKT's self-titled debut album has been a regular fixture on my iPod since it was released last June. SBTRKT recorded "Atomic Peace" in 2009 but it was never released. Recently posted on SBTRKT's Soundcloud page, "Atomic Peace" is a beautiful atmospheric track glistening in smooth bass tones.

Remix: Notorious B.I.G. - Going Back to Cali (Viceroy "Jet Life" Remix)

Notorious B.I.G.'s "Going Back to Cali" has been Viceroy-ed - that is, turned into a sun-drenched, tropical beachy tune with a mixture of steel drums and synths. I can picture that white sand and clear blue water. Summertime, all the time...
